vocal synch

Post by x_rex30 » Sun Mar 12, 2006 6:27 pm

does anyone know of any videos that have a high focus on vocal synch? I'm guessing most of y'all would be clueless but hopefully I'll get some good suggestions.

"vocal synch"? As in, treating vocals as an instrument while ignoring the lyrics?

not ignoring the lyrics. Matching the vocals based on How someone moves, mood synch using visuals, etc is what I mean. There are a lot of videos that focus on great lip synch but I'm not quite asking for that.. it's just whatever visuals really match up the mood/technique of the vocals.. ok this is hard to explain.

So, mood synch based on the vocals while eschewing strict lyrical synch is what you're after?

I'm not trying to say I don't want it to match the lyrics.. I just want the focus to be high on vocals while still maintaining lyrical synch.. lyrical synch is not a must but it would be nice if the video achieves greatness for both great vocal synch and lyrical synch. Some songs have a lot of use of vocals but don't quite have any lyrics going on.. I could bring up a few samples later so you get the general idea of what I'm talking about.

I think I kind of get what you mean-- some videos have cuts and/or effects that synch to one instrument, but the movement within the footage synchs to another. In this case though, instead if synching to two different instruments, the video synchs to two different aspects of the vocals.

Is that what you mean, or have I got it completely wrong?

are you talking about action syncing to the vocal line vs the instrumental line?

most of mine do that, cause i dont play any instruments, and was a singer for all 4 years of hs, I tend to sync to the vocals more than i do the instrumental lines...

was watching a video once and my husband said "this isnt syncing at all" and i was like "its synced to the vocals" and he was all "oh!" hes an instrumentalist, so he was listening to the instrumental lines, while i was listening to the vocal lines...

and no, I dont remember the name of the video...

either way, mine i usually try to do a combination of both, but i suppose vocals mostly... cause i have had some people tell me that there is no sync in my videos... and that always confuses me...

Here is an example of what I'm talking about.. the video this clip is from gives me that chill/tingling feeling you get when you really enjoy something.. the way naruto slides goes very well with the vocals.. and when he says "you" and the way Sasuke walks slowly just gets me.. and another thing to notice is the way Narutos body moves when he says "is"(just noticed this tidbit.. don't know how intentional it was...) I just love it! ^_^

OK, I know.. it's still a bit hard to understand/see/explain.....
