How to make it full screen

Post by James Sharp » Wed Mar 01, 2006 4:52 pm

Ok im workin with subtitle footage.. ya its a fansub.. even the best have done it when the anime is not avalable in dve form and i dont have the hookups to get a raw of it. so i need a lil help with making footage fullscreen. i have played with the adobe premire pro settings for like 5 days now and all i have managed to do is screw up my settings.. thats about it.. i still have black bars on both top and bottom uppon export.. here is how i have been doin it so far..
lets say my source anime is 704x384 so i edit my adobe project settings to 704x384. in my small brain that says.. "hey it will be full screen now" but its not. i still have the inch bars on top and bottom. any help would be great thanks.
Close calls are always the most exciting. Coming close is always the most dissapointing.

I welcome any and all advice on how i can improve

If your footage isn't at a 4:3 resolution, then of course it's not going to take up the whole screen when you export it. It's no different than it would be if you were working with a widescreen source. Assuming the source was originally 4:3 and you cropped it to get rid of the subs, this is not a problem.

a bad and no so smart move is crop the bars in Vdubmod.. your footage will be stretched to shit and look like ass... but it will be fullscreen.. *in vdub, go to filters, then resize to like 704X480, then click ok on the resize box with the Filters menu still open.. choose cropping on the right and crop out the top and bottom* as i said, it will probably look worse then a 1997 Real Media DBZ video... but... its your call.. im just giving you a tip on how to further ruin your media! (and maby your reputation)

See if you can find the irony in this post. :P

You can either resize to something like 640x480 and have a distorted aspect ratio or keep it as is. Personally, I'd take the latter.
