user hardware list...
was reading some threads in the hardware help forum and thought of this... thinking that it would be cool to let users input the hardware/software they use and then users can compare their system with other members. on eof those features that could be useful...

Don't see much sense in it. While the number of software isn't that large (and is covered in the software lists), the possible number of computer configurations is as high as the number of creators. How usefull is a list with several thousend configurations? You barely will look through it. Or are you speaking about some kind of database, which allows queries? Though even that doesn't make much sense for me. Simply can't see the advantages of that.

pretty much the only advatage would be for statisics... a new member can look at the data and see what programs and hardware people are using instead of going to the forum asking what program most people use or what are the most popular. same with hardware.
practically, its probably useless. but for me at least, i take interest in what other people use. plus it could help when a user is having problems. assuming they entered their hardware and software information, one could just view their profile and see what they are using.

never know...Keeper of Hellfire wrote:You can enter your hardware and software information in your profile if you want, like I did, without having a special feature. Of course you can't do searches that way.
I doubt that many users would fill it with usefull informations if it is an additional feature.
