And just to head you off at the pass--don't ask for downloads or where you can find downloads. Doing that would be bad.

For me personally, I'll first pick up on a song that just fits. I'll listen to it over and over and storyboard it out in my mind. There's usually an overall lyrical feel for said song that just works for a given show that I have access to.

No, there's no way I can afford to buy 160 episodes' worth of R2 DVDs. I was able to find Naruto RAWs (non-subtitled episodes) available for download, and put a ton of avisynth filters on them afterwards to get them to look better. Given the opportunity, though, it's much better to work with DVD footage than downloaded footage. It just looks so much nicer, and is much easier to work with in an editing program, plus you're supporting the anime companies.

And be sure to never, ever use subtitled footage--it's just a quick way to ruin an AMV, whether you decide to try and get rid of them or not...

no instead i find that most people who dare to ask anything remotely close usually get chewed out by 5 or so people and the thread is locked with the request removed instead...
