Very carefully.
I assume you're talking about masking out characters from video, which is explained in more detail <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 4">here</a>.
You can also do this in an image editor such as Adobe Photoshop, JASC Paint Shop Pro, or The GIMP; in that case you have to do it frame by frame. That's the method I use.
