ftp loses connection

Post by SQ » Tue Dec 13, 2005 7:59 pm

Alright, so I haven't uploaded an AMV to the .org in like a year so I'm probably just doing something stupid.

I got assigned kero.animemusicvideos.org, and I open up WS_FTP, input the information, it connects(rather slowly) and I begin to upload my video(which is only 12mb, so there's no way it should take long). WS_FTP freezes on 0%, at 512 bytes uploaded.

Okay.

So I go into internet explorer, and use the supplied link for that ftp. I delete the partially uploaded file from WS_FTP, and then re-upload my video.
It also freezes at no progress, and in the status bar, it says the connection was lost.

I re-connected, re-imputting my user id and password(that the upload page gave) and tried to upload the video again, but IE got stuck on no progress while "Trying to calculate how much time it will take to upload".

What's going on?

I'm behind no firewalls or anything; I'm completely unprotected.

(Yeah, not smart, but also gets rid of a lot of other problems. I haven't had any virus attacks with this setup, fortunately... Please don't attack me now because I said that)

No Internet Explorer is giving me an error, after not uploading my video:

"FTP Folder error
An error occured copying the ftp file to the ftp server. Make sure you have permission to put files on the server.

Details:
The connection with the server was reset"

aha!

Either it was a temporary burp, or you have to disable passive transfer.

Meaning: It's fixed now.

Weird. Passive transfers should work just fine.

Well, as soon as I unchecked it in WS_FTP, it worked fine.

IE just kind of all-around sucked, but I don't really know how to change it's options.
