I think Yami no Matseui might be your friend, if you don't mind a bit of shounen-ai. It's also a 12 ep series. It's sort of a detective agency for the undead. The main character, the trench-coat clad Tzusuki is a slacker, always looking for side trips or sweets. There are scenes where there are close ups of his watch. The first ep introduces his new partner, the young Hisoka, who is an empath, someone who can sense other people's powerful emotions. For the ulcers line, there's an arc where Tsusuki is posessed by a demon and it is pretty ickilly exorcised from him.

chips - There's a different arc where Tsusuki is undercover as a casino dealer.

I'm sure you can make it work good. If you can't, it'll be a good combo suggestion.
