New AMV Contest for Anime Detour 2006! The WTF Contest

Hi everyone,

I wanted to stop by to pimp out a new contest I'm organizing for this year's Anime Detour (March 24-26, 2006). It has great potential, but not unless we get some people to particpate! I call it:

The Whiskey Tentacle Foxtrot Contest

The idea is this: Participants intentionally create a badvid and despite whoever wins, we all still lose in the end. Because yeah, ouch. We're out for comedy through the most awful, wrong, super fansub quality, cracktastic 1-5 minute AMV of your life. Parental discretion will be advised for this event, but no explicit hentai, please.

I have to also mention that this was inspired by the Lord King Bad Vid party that was organized for Vividcon 2005. Idea used with permission from the original creators!

Yay! The Narutards might just have a chance with their craptastic videos this year. (No real offense to fans of Naruto. Heck! I love Naruto myself ^_^!) I should submit my old crap for a laugh. I hope we get some good stuff (meaning bad, of course) for the contest. It should at least be good for a laugh or two.

Can the WTF entry (and entry form) be recorded onto the same CD as the standard entry?

You bet! Just make sure that you have your two separate entry forms filled out and signed to be sent with the CD.

So...are all the entries in the contest going to be shown, or just a select few that make it into the "finals."

That's largely dependant on how many entries we receive. I'm expecting at least an hour of time for the showing and will make every attempt to include all the AMVs we receive. However, there is always the possibility of technical difficulties, unreadable CDs, and just not enough time to cram everything into one sitting. Therefore I can't guarantee that everyone's entry will make it in. But since this is a relatively new idea, I'm not expecting too big of a turnout for our first year. There's a very high probability that if you submit an AMV, it will be shown.

In short though, if I receive an entry that doesn't violate any of our rules and there's time to show it, it will be shown.
