Quick 2 questions bout this effect

Post by Ninjafox » Wed Nov 23, 2005 7:27 am

Image

picture from Vicbond007's vid, Charcoal sketched dreams

As shown in the red circles, how do i make the edges give it that blur look? i applied gaussian blur but all that did was blur the image but not edges. Also within that grey and white rectangle, do u copy the exact clip above the original one and add "Brightness and contrast" with "gaussian blur" ? i tried it, however i cant get it quite the same.

I think it's done with the mask. Either there is a very slim clolor graduation at the edges, or the edges are smoothed.

If you use a rectangle mask that has a gradiant around the edges, you get this effect. (I use Fireworks or Photoshop to make my masks)

Most image editing programs had a edge feather style or soft line stroke, or something like that that will also create the edged gradiant for you.

If you still have Vegas Movie Studio, you can use it to make masks like this. Put a white pic on the overlay track and a black pic below it. Drop the cookie cutter effect on the white pic. Lower the size setting and increase the feathering. Don't bother to render the video. Save a still pic to a file and you can use that as a black and white mask in Premiere.
