Help on downloading local videos

When i download the local videos i can hear the musci but i can't see the video.....is that normal? if not what can i do to see the AMV along with the music....when i download the direct video though i can hear the music and see the video........but on local it's only the music...HELP!!!!!!

chances are that you're missing a codec...
what codecs do you have now?

ive downloaded media player classic,,, ive downloaded the vlc video player and nothing is working...can someone give me a step by step process??
