Gah Subtitles!

Post by BakaNeko123 » Sun Oct 02, 2005 7:18 am

How do you get rid of the subtitles in fansub footage? I know you cut it off with a black bar or something, but how do you do that? I use iMovie if that helps.

None of the programs mentioned are compatible with Macs. Is there any other way to do it?

You could always edit around them.
Or, if worse comes to worse, buy the DVDs.

Find a way to get rid of the part of the screen containing subs (any image editor should work) and repeat for all frames

I don't know if VirtualDub-1.5.10 works on Mac - but if it does you can add the filter "fill" and the subs are gone. But you also lose a bit of the image, of course.

oh it can add flavor, if you have the insight or vision, or if it talks to that deep down sense you know or think others come across.

No, you're wrong. Fansubtitles in an AMV add a '1' star rating and a quick deletion.

Cropping or letterboxing seem to work well. If you want to just crop the bottom off, make sure to compensate for the distortion by cropping some off the sides as well.

The main drawback is video quality. Make sure you are using decent quality fansubs before you start.

enjoy!
