Using Audio from the Anime

Post by Raiiel » Sat Sep 24, 2005 9:00 am

I've been using a-m-v.org as a resource for about 2 years now, and for the most part all my questions I ever had have been answered by your helpful How-To Guides. But this one hasn't, or maybe I'm not looking in the right spot. Anyway, I'm making an AMV where I want to use clips of this girl speaking as quotes in my video. These will be fairly long quotes, as she is telling the story. But I have some issues. There is just a little bit of background audio that clashes with the soft song that I am using, which happens to be from it's own soundtrack. I have been fooling around with the audio options in Premiere Elements, and, to tell the truth, I'm not getting very far. I was just wanting to know if there is a way either in Premiere Elements, or by some other program, hopefully freeware, to minimize the background music, or boost the voice to help drown the other out, effectively. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Had this problem a lot as well. Try using an equalizer effect that brings out the middle bands of audio (although often times there is a vocal amplifyer EQ setting that comes with the program) If you use this, and turn that sound's volume down a bit, the music should drown out the interfiering music from the soundtrack.

I used a short clip in my lastest video and ran into the same issue. I used Audacity, (which is free), and played a LOT with the noise removal effect. Worked pretty well after adjusting the volume a little bit in Premeire. Another quick trick, is when the character isn't talking, just remove all the background sound completely. Don't know how well this might work with longer clips though. It could create odd silences, and you still have to deal with the background noise during the talking. Adobe Audition works even better than Audacity, but it's costly. However, you may be able to take advantage of a trial of that program...
