DO NOT USE MPEG1 - lots of people like using mpeg1 for editing. However, even in Premiere and other programs that have mpeg1 support, the editing will not be frame accurate and you may find that the cut you thought was spot-on actually pops into the next scene when editing. This is very bad, not to mention that the quality will be pretty awful when it's all done too.
does this apply for MPEG2 or just mpeg1, id assume just mpeg1 since it says nothing about mpeg2 but it's always bad to assume ^_^

ty in advance

so this is what im planning on doing
taking the dvd vob and exporting it to huffyuv with:
mpeg2source(blah blah blah)
Telecide(order=1,guide=1)
Decimate(cycle=5, mode=2)
Crop(8,0,-8,-0)
LanczosResize(640,480)
ConvertToRGB24(interlaced=true)
in the script

then im going to take it in TMPGEnc Xpress and convert it to MPEG2 (the mpeg2cut thing is giving me difficutly)
with 640x480, and then ill have hte brittle be 2000kbps
each episode is roughly 270mb

does this sound good for storingall the episodes on the computer, if there are any suggestions on what to change pleas let me know... (i wont be able to respond till later tonight due to work :( )

thx in advance for any and all help

for quality nero avc
for a little less quality than that and more convenience xvid
for more convenience and and obviously less quality transcode with dvdshrink
for super convenience copy the dvd

if you really want to reencode and mpeg2,
try QuEnc 1 pass q2

A very confused user

Post by TenIn20-10 » Sun Jun 19, 2005 12:36 am

I'm new in here and I've just downloaded a file which extension is *.rar and... I don't know a thing about it. Is it like WinZip or needs some codecs or something?
By the way, how do you quote others?

PS.: Am I in the right forum? :?:

Clarification: ZIP is a file format. WinZip is just one program that can handle ZIP files.

But yes, RAR is like ZIP. I suggest WinRAR for unzipping and/or creating RAR archives. Rar.

D'oh, forgot to mention:

If you downloaded this RAR file from a LOCAL link, please report the video to the Mod Drop Box. ZIP, RAR, and other similar types of files are not supposed to be on the local server.
