Are you afraid of people "stealing" your ideas?

Post by Kionon » Thu Jun 02, 2005 11:24 pm

You know, I never give or ask for suggestions because I'm worried about someone taking my idea and using it before me. Either they do a job worse than I could, and that bothers me, or someone does it better than I could, and that bothers me for a completely different reason.

Is anyone else afraid to share, and if not, why not?

I wish that was the case with me!

No, really... No matter how I whine or beg for people to take some of my ideas, noone wants to. If people actually started making the AMV's I wanted to make, I would quit editing in a snap and enjoy the ride!

I wouldn't really worry about that. From my view, this would be a win-win situation. Either you still have an opening for making your own better video, or you have a good video. If you have what you consider a good video, does it really matter how it came to be?

But if you think you have the 'next big thing' on your hands, it's entirely your right to hold it in.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Not really. Usually, when I tell someone else a video idea, I receive

"..."

in response :P

I don't worry about it. Even if someone did try one of my ideas there video would not necessarily resemble mine in any way.

Not really. Of course, to be on the safe side, I probably wouldn't go posting them all around the .org, but I don't mind telling the folks I know.

Sometimes ... cause when I'm working on a video with a certain song an somone already released a video with that certian song my video won't be that unique anymore (even if the video is crap ). But all the videos I've abadoned are useless so everyone can make it instead of me.

Ah, see I never abandon ideas. I just put them off. I've had the idea for my current music for three years. I've finally been able to sit down and do it. I'm on the second draft and just need to add a few more effects.

I wouldn't care if someone stole an idea of mine unless they didn't give me proper credit for the original idea and said it was their own. Or if I ever implemented the idea laterand they said I ripped them off.

I kinda felt that way.... But really, if you go look to see if someone else has done it already, you can see if you can do a better job than they did. So really, there shouldn't be anything to stop ya ^.^()

Sometimes. Sometimes when asking for help, I don't give all the information. Describe the anime instead of naming it outright. I thought my first trailer idea was so good I wanted to make it quick before someone else thought of it.
Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.
