Some Forward Information--preparation--

Post by shinji13 » Tue May 24, 2005 9:59 pm

I am currently in preparation for my most important AMV, it will decide if I have what it takes to continue on. I have been reading guides, tutorials, program reccommendations, and so on all day! So far this is what I have come up with on using::

DVD Decrypter - to get the vob

DVD2AVI - to turn vob into usable videos

Huffyyuv - to use while (decoding?) files.

Avisynth - I am not quite sure about this program, I think it is a de-interlacer and has other features to it. I have no tested anything yet, I am leaving that to when I get my dvd drive lol.

Xvid Codec - To encode the videos...

I am not sure how it all works and am new to this set-up, before I just used Smartripper, DVD2avi turning it into a divX format, and then using VirtualDub to de-interlace and make quality smoother, when I finished I put it into a NTSC format .. sad I know.

Anyway I am noob to video creating, somewhat, and I need someone to help me understand how I am going to use these programs to get very beautiful footage and make a mini-tutorial explaining it. (dont need to tell me how to use the programs, that I can figure out), I just need to know the order to do things and what do to. (for instance I never really knew what to do besides de-interlacing with VirtualDub, I know there is better options but I didnt know what to do!

Anyone who helps me out I will thank, and I will pm you if I run into problems when I begin the ripping. <3 I want to do it right this time.

note: I do not appreciate flaming, it isnt a nice thing and I am not asking stupid enough questions to deserve it.

sorry... I don't really know where to start since I'm not a total "expert" myself, and everybody has their own way of editing which doesn't work for everybody =\

If you follow what the guides say to do step by step, you will get pretty good results. Especially the section "getting your video" in Absolute Destiny+Ermac's guide would be useful to you. =)

As for avisynth, there is something good about it in that guide. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... synth.html

So yeah... I'd suggest that at first you just follow what it says to do step-by-step. =)

Just to clear it up, HuffYUV is the codec you use when you want to encode video without losing any quality. XviD is the codec you use when you want to make the video as small as possible so other people can download it.

Hope that is some help!

noob opinion here- for my last amv i just edited without using avs files and then avs'ed the final copy- u can probably just avisynth the finished file unless ur footage is really fuzzy- then do the problem clips in avisynth and edit. (warning- i know nothing about amvs, considering i'm a noob, but i'm pretty happy with the vid quality ive been getting using this process...)

Mini-tutorial, prerequisite: working AMVapp installation.

(1) rip VOBs
(2) index VOBs
(3) write scripts:

Code: Select all

MPEG2Source("index file here")
... processing options ...
(4) load scripts into editor

Easy.
