Post by carchase » Tue May 17, 2005 1:58 pm

So I really want to make my own music video now! Where do I find video clips to use them for my music video?

Yeah, DVDs are the way to go. Don't fall in to the trap of downloaded footage. Think of the tedious dvd ripping process as payment for ripping copyrighted material. Its real easy to pick out which video's were done with downloaded footage because of the horrible video quality. However, if that the only means for source, then do what you want. Just plz. PLZ don't lower your self and rip off footage from other people's amv's. Have you ever heard the phrase, "Honor amongst thieves."? Even if you don't consider this stealing, be aware that you trend a very thin line of "AMV creator's" ethics when using downloaded music.

good point. It's not like your going to make millions of amv so it shouldn't be to much of a dent in your wallet if you rip from the cd in case of music or dvd in case of anime.

Actually, your assertion rests on an interesting question:

Is receiving a digital copy of artwork the same thing as taking a copy of that artwork from someone who sells art?

The economics are of course wildly different, but this question is one of the questions at the root of all of our IP troubles today.

Anyway.
