Video -> Gif

Is there a way to turn a video scene into a gif file?... srry if this is the wrong place to post.

.gif is a picture format not a video format

you can take frame shots and save that as a .gif

... GIF does support multiple frames, you know.

Anyway, I'd copy the video frames out of VirtualDub and into Photoshop (or your image editor of choice), giving each frame its own layer in one big .PSD file. Then I'd crop and resize as needed, then open the thing in Adobe ImageReady (or your .GIF animation editor of choice), set up the frames in the proper order, and save.

Ulead's GIF Animator will take AVI and MPEG files (and other formats) and allow you to edit them, then save the result as an animated GIF. I've done this with DV AVI files; it works. It also takes layers from Photoshop and Paintshop.

GIF Animator is included in their picture editor, PhotoImpact, which might make it a better buy if you're willing to spend a little more.

i recommend gif animator as well, ive been using it for years.

Premiere (or 6.5 at least) can do the same, but it's abit iffy so i wouldn't rely on it to get it right first time.
