Adobe Premiere Compatible Audio Codec?

Yo, I'm trying to get the audio off of an avi I have but the codec isn't compatible with Adobe Premiere (just getting silence). Any recomendation of a form of compression I can use in Virtualdub that will work in Premiere 5.0?
