Ripping Audio from DVD
Before you all get on my ass, I did Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides.
But I don't want to download any new programs.
Using Vdub, Dvd2AVI, and Smartripper, I have ripped audio from DVDs before, and they came out as a WAV.
Only problem is, I don't remember how to do it.
I've tried everything in SmartRipper, all it's options, and all I would get was a .vob or a .ac3.
When I play these with my DVD Player, the music will play, however when I put them into dvd2avi, the music will not play, and will not save in the project.
Even on the d2v that SmartRipper makes, the audio will not register.
Can someone help me?

In DVD2AVI's Audio options, you've got to change the Track number to something other than None (usually, only 1 and 2 will work).
Then, when you save the project file, DVD2AVI will also save the audio in a separate file, its format depending on the source and what options you chose (Decode/Demux/whatever else).

I don't remember how it works in DVD2AVI, but in DGIndex you have to select Audio -> Output Method -> Demux All Tracks and then process the VOB normally. You can then convert the AC3 audio file to WAV with BeSweet.
(You can use the Decode to WAV output method too, but the quality will not be as good.)

Yep.
In fact, I only ripped the audio, first, but since nothhing was working, I tried video AND audio. The video shows up, but the audio never works in Dvd2avi

Well, yeah. DVD2AVI doesn't play audio, you gotta actually save a project file (or an AVI, but why bother?) to get the audio.SQ wrote:In fact, I only ripped the audio, first, but since nothhing was working, I tried video AND audio. The video shows up, but the audio never works in Dvd2avi
But if you already tried that and it didn't work, then I have no idea.
Unless you can open the VOB in VirtualDubMod, go to the Stream List on the Streams menu, and demux or decode the audio stream you want.

when I save the project in dvd2avi, I get the d2v and then an ac3 file. When I tried to convert the ac3 to a wav using some special converter, it said that the ac3 wasn't a valid audio file.
Explain step by step how to do what you said in VdubMod?

Doesn't BeSweet have an AC3 decoder? Or is that what you tried?SQ wrote:when I save the project in dvd2avi, I get the d2v and then an ac3 file. When I tried to convert the ac3 to a wav using some special converter, it said that the ac3 wasn't a valid audio file.
- Open the needed .VOB file in VirtualDubMod (it takes a while)SQ wrote:Explain step by step how to do what you said in VdubMod?
- Streams menu --> Stream List
- Select the audio stream you wish to extract
- Click "Save WAV", then pick output filename, etc.

VdubMod sees the audio stream and saves the wav, but when I try to open it in WMP, WMP cannot play the file. =\
