Yeah, I could tell from your initial response you aren't deep in anything.

I'll admit some of Tiesto's stuff, like Adagio for Strings, isn't bad... but it's pretty damn shallow to only like the most popular artist of a genre, especially when there's much better music out there.
I personally think Tiesto was at his best just before he released his Summerbreeze album. I've been going to raves and listening to electronica for the better part of 6 years now and I don't think that labelling Tiesto a "no talent hack" is a fair assessment at all. For one he knows how to control the crowd energy extremely well, and for a DJ of electronica, that is one of the hardest things to do. I agree his music isn't the best for simply electronica listening but if you've been to a party while he was spinning you'd realize that there is a big difference between party electronica and sit-in-your-car electronica.
word man , i agree with req sick of everyone being like OMG OAKENFOLD *penis enlargement* !!!!!!!!!!ONEONE
Oakenfold pisses me off, in my mind he's one of the biggest sellouts ever to the rave community. The guy had talent, he was could spin something wicked and some really awesome sets of the mid to late 90's were all his, but he took his fame, he took his music, pussified it and repackaged it for the masses just so he could have a bigger name to a group of fans who never knew jacksh~t about electronica and never will.

Heres a list of Techno, Trance, Dance and i think they can also jump into other genre's like house, melody, rave etc etc..

Aluna - All of my Life (Styles & Breeze remix)
Clear Vu - I Adore
Dj Tiesto - Adagio for strings
Dj Tiesto - Athena
Dj Tiesto - Sweet mysery
Dj Doboy - I'll Fly away With you (Ultimate remix)
Dj Doboy - Ocean of Dreams
Dj Irene - Open your mind
Dj Irene - Only in my dreams
Dj Hixxy - 24/7
Dougal & Gammer - Get Hype (Scott Brown remix)
Dougal & Gammer feat. Stefan B - Fall From the stars
Dougal & Gammer - kick your legs
Dougal & Hixxy - Sugar & Spice
Dowster - Starlight
Dune - Cant stop raving (video mix)
Styles & Breeze - Heartbeatz (Scott Brown remix)
Styles & Breeze - Your Shining
Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes (Dj Hixxy remix)

Some of these artist's songs may not really be Techno but are still really great for listening. Try Tiesto's other songs as he has alot of good ones, also try these other artists, Ian Van Dahl, Scott Brown, Sarina Paris, Sonique (any of her songs remixed), Paul Okenfold, Paul Van Dyke, Darude, Dj Hixxy, Dj Pulse and any songs of Styles & Breeze or anything remixed.

Dowster, Dougal & Gammer - Starlight (excellent song that you will like)

drop me a PM if u get it

Just to rep another style: Venetian Snares = excellent drill'n'bass. I think. Honestly, electronic music genres confuse me.

And I forget if anyone has said Aphex Twin, but if not, someone has now.

I personally love Tiesto...but to each his own.

As for some classic techno...

O'Fortuna by Apotheosis
Spente Le Stelle by Emma Shapplin

Both are techno-opera variants. They have nice climaxes and are very intense without sounding overly repetitive as is the case with most Techno. I'd like to make an AMV using each of these in the future.

Well, I don't really know about techno rock, but I think "crawling in the dark" by Hoobastank is good.

Hmmm where to begin...come to think of it...these would all make good tracks for AMVs

Blue - Latour (It was used in Basic Instinct)
I Want Your Body - Nymphomania (Used in True Romance)
New Order - Confusion (aka the Blade opening track)
Channel X - Rave the Rhythm
2 Unlimited - Twilight Zone (yes it's played out but one of the remixes is still classic).

I have dozens more that come to mind but I'll have to dig up my box of stuff. Ahhh...the memories...
