A thank you vid to the AMV community:
This is a project that is still in the planning stages, but I think will be really cool, and that all the authors here will appreciate.
The whole purpose of this project is to mix some of the most well known/highest ranked vids on a-m-v.org, mix them together, (complete with credits, of course) with each vid getting between 15-45 seconds of play time.
Anyway, my question to you is:
If I made this, would you watch it?
Can you suggest any BIG or GREAT videos? (I'm not going to do the entire top 10%)
Do you think any authors would object? (I am going to ask each personally before I do their video into it.)

This sounds like a really good idea. Just make sure you try to contact every creator whose work you use and if for whatever reason they say no, then make sure to respect.
I guess the only prob is it would be hard to contact some of the older creates who are no longer active in the amv community (i.e. kevin caldwell) but whose work has been very important to the amv community.

Oh you have my word on it, I will have everyone credited not only in the video, but on the download page also. And I will probably ask every creator beforehand now, just to make sure it is okay with them. (*Sighs and warms up email/AIM*)genestarwind21122 wrote:I'm a little unsure of this. I mean some creators would be honored and say yes go ahead and do it. Others would frown at the idea and wonder what the purpose is. I say go for it. I know that creators will not mind as long as you don't try to claim their work as your own in some type of montage amv.
As far as crediting goes, as each video comes on, The name of the video, the creator of the video, the song, and the anime (or various for multiple) will be displayed. This will slowly fade out after 5 seconds, sorta like what MTV does.
All videos will be fully credited on the profile for the video, with the info above, along with a direct link to the video profile for each video.

Yeah, I won't include a video for a person that says no or I cannot get a hold of. (I'll probably make a section at the end of the video to commemorize all the videos I couldn't include, or couldn't get a hold of)

I appreciate the sentiment of what you want to do. I'm just trying to imagine what your presentation will look like, and if it's worth doing. - You're good intentions aside -.
If you can pull it off, I say GO FOR IT!!
This almost sounds like an idea Machine and MexicanJunior pitched to me last year at A-Kon....trying to select the most influential / well known AMV editors in the community for a round table discussion, of sorts.

Our idea was more based on the VH1 style of top 20 lists (songs, bands, moments, etc...). The premise was to get together a roundtable of establised editors and choose our favorite 20 editors to showcase, then rank them based on our choices from 20 to 1. We would then present it in the same format as you would see on VH1...clips of their videos, video footage of comments from other creators, footage/pics of them winning awards or at cons. Not sure if it would ever get off the ground but I would love to pull this off into an hour show at some point.rubyeye wrote: This almost sounds like an idea Machine and MexicanJunior pitched to me last year at A-Kon....trying to select the most influential / well known AMV editors in the community for a round table discussion, of sorts.
