Effect Recreation

Post by mckeed » Wed Mar 30, 2005 6:19 pm

I am trying to recreate an effect that I saw in a One Piece opening. What I want to recreate is the overlay in yellow.

You guys helped me re-create another effect in this same opening. Was hoping for some more help on it. I originally thought that this effect would be similar to the other one that I did but alas, it seems to be escaping me how to do this. I am working in After Effects with just the standard bunch of effects at my disposal.

I used a matte to get rid of the background. I thought originally that I would need to do a "find edges" and then do some sort of difference matte and then appy a color filter to the layer to get it to the correct color. The difference Matte in AE seems to behave way different than the difference matte in Premiere and I couldn't get this to work right. My first attempt at this I used "threashold" to get this one color or the other, then find edges, and lastly difference matte. I couldn't get differnce matte to make just the edges not transparent. It seemed to make an all or nothign. Getting rid of threashold didn't seem to hellp either. I'm not sure what else to try. Anyone have any suggestions.

Well, since you got rid of the background, you could try this and color-shift it into yellow.

I got rid of the background in AE, but I suppose I could just export a frame, are there equvilent functions that I can use in AE? For other reasons I'd like to keep this in AE without having to resort to Avisynth.
