Is my Step by Step instruction correct?

Post by Noverca1is » Sun Feb 27, 2005 8:06 pm

okay is this way good????

keep in mind:

Im using Adobe premiere
Im using "Downloaded" animes
therefor has been compressed with Divx or the likes

-----------------
Process
-----------------

Use a program to convert mp3 into Wav

Start Premiere Pro
29.97 fps (30fps) NTSC with square pixel 1.0
import footages
delink n delete audio
input wav
beginning working on amv
export to movie
save as .avi

playback video on wmp or any player, check to see if black boarder exisist if so:
open virtualdub
import avi
crop boarder
save

than

Open VirtualDub
Import the avi
filter add temporal smoth
render n save

open virtualdub again
import the saved avi
filter add the other smoother
render and save

open virtualdub again
import the new saved avi
filter add sharpen???
render and save

open premiere
import the latest saved avi
delete wav and add mp3
export to encode media
select huffy
follow instruction, 2 pass

thats it... im not sure if I have to do anything else
this is my understand after reading the guides
But I have a feeling once that is done, the file is going to be HUGE
do I have to re-open the saved huffy encode back to premiere and save as AVi?
how do I decompress it to a smaller file w/o a noticeable amount of loss.
For my trail n errors playing with huffy the filesize is bigger than original.

tell me where I went wrong, what to do
also explain, if this is wrong, what was I actually doing than?
ty

Only if your footage is actually AT 29.97fps (which, by the way, is NOT 30fps, no matter what anyone tells you).

Premiere Pro may have issues with importing and using DivX/XviD files. If you have trouble and you don't want to figure out the proper usage of this alternative method, you're SOL.
playback video on wmp or any player, check to see if black boarder exisist if so:
open virtualdub
import avi
crop boarder
save
If you're using fansubs, it should be already cropped, unless the fansub encoder sucked it up.
than
"Then". "Than" is a comparator.
Open VirtualDub
Import the avi
filter add temporal smoth
render n save

open virtualdub again
import the saved avi
filter add the other smoother
render and save

open virtualdub again
import the new saved avi
filter add sharpen???
render and save
Why are you rendering BETWEEN all those operations!?
open premiere
import the latest saved avi
delete wav and add mp3
export to encode media
select huffy
follow instruction, 2 pass
You can do all that in VirtualDub.

That, or if black border is necessary to maintain the proper aspect ratio, you should NOT crop that off. The only way to really know is to know what the intended aspect ratio of the source is.

Wouldn't AVISource() work better?

If you have a VfW DivX decoder, sure. Most systems that I've run across, though, don't.

Well, im putting information as to the way I understood it.
Im just checking if im understand it properly.

As to why im rendering them indivudually
I thought it is best to first render spatial than temporal
not both at the same time which I would assume would cause some problems.

I really dont know much or anything about Virtual Dub, that is what im trying to learn and how to use it effectively.

as far as the Croping goes, There are other vids I want to do which I have to crop and they arent Anime.

as far as I meant by 30fps...
I meant, in adobe you have 2 options, FPS and something else. That "somethng" else has a drop down menu that gives me 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30.
so I assume I have to pick 30 fps since I cant input 29.97

than then whatever....smartass...
Now where is my toll money for crossing the bridge?
dont make me hit you with my ub3r club
I don't care if im a troll or not, its the point to it.
Just like giving a gift to ur gf. wether is expesnive, cheap or imitation, its the thought that counts.

Im re-learning all about editing the proper way. than make AMV until i can make "proper" amv using "bought dvd"....till than, I have to work with what I got. All vids im using are .avi but were encoded with divx and whatnot. So it plays back perfectly apparently.
go figure... unless im saying it wrong or I missed something.

im still reading and re reading and gathering all information thrying to clearly process through my mind which I might add, I havent used in years and i forgot to feed the hamster. Now I have a lazy hamster working in there...
reading everything, espically the post prodcution of encoding to distribute online vs con and whatnot is becomign discourageing as the length of it and all the different plug in, filters, etc are driving me insane.

Nope. Do all your filtering at once. That way you don't lose quality through unnecessary recompressions.

I assume you're talking about timebase.
If you're working with 29.97fps video, then your timebase should be 30fps Drop-Frame Timecode or whatever Premiere calls it.

but im working with 23.98 meaning I should put timebase as 23.98 and display format as 24 or "frames" only options in adobe.

No. Because you're not working with 23.98; you're working with 23.976.

And, unfortunately, Premiere has not properly supported 23.976fps for a long time (if it ever did).

So here's what you do...
