This is true. People should check out some fo the amvs ppl recommended earlier in this thread.
Undertow wrote:I personally think that the reason behind the lack of Rap AMVs is:
AMV making is not a populair thing, and that would also attract people that are outside of the mainstream, and thereby tend to stay away from most of the populair music. This therefor means that most of the AMV Creators don't really like/listen to rap music.
Most of them here seem to listen to the rock genre, or more into some of the sidebranches there off.
This is very true.

Maybe you should read this entire thread.

However, im gonna through my playlist and give some recommendations:

Nas, Outcast, Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Mase, 2pac and Biggie back before the east coast west coast shit, easy e, some ice cube, NWA, some wu-tang, Puff Daddy back when that was his name, Biz Markie, De La Soul, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, Grand Master Flash, Kris Kross, Marky Mark, Public Enemy, Guster, Sugar Hill Gang

Well, you are entitled to your opinions as much as i am, and saying them isn't against the law, atleast if you don't hurt anyone with them (like being a racist).
There are indeed a lot of rock/metal/punk songs about those themes, and there are also a lot of rap/hip hop songs about asses and boobies and getting "nookie".
I tried to listen to rap music, but it just doesn't suit me. People can point me towards many good artists, and if they are really good i wouldn't claim otherwise, but Stuck Mojo and the Beastie Boys are as far as i get into that direction.

Well, for all the people that would like to make those videos, happy editing, and from all the people that don't like that music (including me), don't blame us, it's just not our thing.

Well, the only way i can even start thinking about making a video is when i can picture the majority of the scenes in my head when i listen to the song of choice. You could say i was somewhat biased against rap, but even factoring that in, i've just never heard a rap song that I believe would make a good AMV. That't not to say someone will or hasn't already made an incredible rap AMV, I'm just saying that i find rap to be very hard to work with when it comes to AMVs.

Also, seeing as how most AMVs seem to be action themed, many editors usually turn to the more rock and alternative side. I listen to almost all kinds of music, there i no single genre i like. But i have never been able to listen to one rap song and be able to match more then one or two scenes from any anime i have seen to the sound and lyrics.

My own .02

I suspect that rap songs, due to the generally very specific lyrics are probably a bit harder to match up to scenes as easily as some other genre types. Someone also mentioned the repetitiveness of rap lyrics, and the fact that they tend to be either spoken or chanted rather than sung.

I'll bet that if you wanted to you could find lots of anime that fit rap songs fairly easily. Wolfs Rain for example, has lots of dark moody, yet metaphorical parts to it that would probably do just fine for a dark rap vid.

I'm noticing also, that the music in anime is (naturally) folowing the current trends, and is starting to have a much more 'street' sound to it, maybe this will pull in some more editors that might not normally watch, or make AMVs.
