I like Rap, well mostly the old school stuff, every now and then someone comes out with something good, but most of the latest stuff on the radio is garbage. Eminem probably has the most meaning in his Rap songs lately. I like snoop, but not his latest song. Dr Dre was cool back in the 90s. Puff, and Biggie, among others. I'm a fan of music. If its music, I like it. If its noise, I probably won't ;p Seriously I listen to and like a very wide range of different styles and cultures of music, including spanish, Raggae, Jpop (ofcourse) techno, alternative, rock, pretty much anything but the hardcore heavy metal stuff. (noise) even country ;p

Anyway back on topic, I think the main reason as most people have said, is matching a concept with most of the lyrics of rap songs. Hence why most that do come out are comedies making fun of or twisting the original intent of the show completely out of wack ;p See AMV Hell.... "Move! AH! get out the way..."

I have always wanted to make a serious rap video, but havn't because of this reason, no solid concept that actually can find scenes to match in anime.

I do have a few comedy ones planned though...

Have to agree with bum here. If you think all rap is about the blingin', you don't know very much. I know fuck-all about rap, and I know that.

I don't make any because I don't listen to much. Now. Here's the thing. In general, If there are a lot of rock AMVs, more rock fans are going to stick around because there are things to watch that they like. And they in turn will make more videos, and so on, and so on, LBZ forever amen.

So if you think there should be more rap videos, look around for ideas to make some. You have to start somewhere. I, for one, would kill for more trip-hop AMVs. (y'know, Portishead, Massive Attack, you're all asleep now, moving on.) I've seen some, but more is always good. And although I'm not all that hot as an editor, I've made one in that genre and intend to do another not too far down the road.

Innovate, dudes. Find what has been done if you haven't found it yet, and then make more. There's not much point in worrying why it hasn't been done until now. Get out there and make what you want to see. 8-)

So how about we start a rap mev here in this thread instead of making a futile atempt in the mev forum? Even if we only get 3-4 people in it, like sarah said, you've gota start somewhere.
