How do I put music on Windows moviemaker...

Click on file>import , find the song you want, click on it and press open.

then drag the audio clip to the audio track of the timeline. next click the 'set audio levels' button above the timeline to the far left, and when the 'audio levels' window appears, drag the tracker to the 'audio/music' end.

but how do you get them off of Windows Media Player? That's what I've been trying to do.

You don't have to; if you're playing the file in Windows Media Player, then it's already on your computer somewhere, and therefore it can be loaded into WMM with no problem (Bum's and DWP's posts)... right?

I'm trying to get a couple of songs I have downloaded onto Movie Maker and I have no frickin idea how. every time I try to import it from Windows Media, the thing just downloads sample music.
