A good sound driver

Post by Rurounikeitaro » Tue Dec 07, 2004 5:24 pm

My computer didn't has a sound card but didn't have a sound driver so I downloaded one and my anime sounds like it's coming out of a box. Does anybody know of a good sound driver to download?

First look and see what kind of card it is then go to the manufascter's website and download the driver for it from their site. It should be in a support or download section.

Do I have to open up the computer and look for the sound card and find the name or is there a way to check while on the computer?

if it is not displayed in your "System Info" area, the name and model number,
( and you've already tryed to use the hardware-update section of your control panel )
then Yeah - you need to turn-off the power to your computer and remove the
card itself.

Usually printed on the Largest chip ( IC ) are a set of numbers:
the first level will be whi made the chip - Yamaha, cirex ....
the next set(s) are numbers you can use on your search engine to locate the
correct drivers.
the last set of numbers are the date of manufacturing ... 12042002

there are many numbers printed on the card itself, of which, one will be an
FCC# ... this will help you identify who sold it and what drives were used.

- its a pain, to do it this way, but ... just think of how many more things you'd
need to look for if you were running Lynux

8-)
