What makes a good AMV Panel(ist)? X|
I've been offered a panel at TWC2.
It's in Janurary, 7 - 9. Not many people are going to show up, I know that. So I'm not overreacting. Bah. Getting off topic. Anyway!
So I've been offered to have a panel for this con, and to put it bluntly, I have never done this before, and have no idea what I am doing.
I've seen panels at AWA, and I was thinking of basing my panel off those, but to be frank, I don't know about innerworkings, or how they prepared for what they did.
So I need suggestions on how to be a good panelist, what makes a good panel, and even if I should do it! X|
I want you to be bluntly honest with me. A lot of you know my personality, or possibly my AMVs, so would I, do you think, head a good panel?
Do my AMVs suck?
Am I too rude?(re: Iron Chef at TWC1)
I am confused!
Help a poor AMVer out.

Don't ramble about how everyone loves your videos.
I've only seen like 4 panels, but "everyone loved this video" gets annoying.

1. Find a general theme to talk about. Your videos. Other peoples videos. Whatever.
2. Give a short blurb about it, then start playing videos. Before each video, talk about it and maybe point out specific things for people to look for in the video.
3. After the videos are done, give another short blurb to wrap it all up.

Stay on topic.
Be on-time. Make sure your equipment is ready and working before the pannel starts.
Don't talk about what happened or what you or someone else saw or did at other cons.
Thank everyone for coming. Introduce yourself and other panelists.
Don't make inside jokes. Don't laugh at stupid noob questions.

Pray 4 peace! Not an AMV, something you can do to help!

I've never done an AMV panel, but I've done a general anime panel, as well as some other gaming and such type panels... so really, the only general advice I can give you is to just be yourself. Speak clearly and naturally. Try to appeal to the crowd.
Oh, and DON'T ramble on about your own ideals and opinions as being fact. Every single year at Archon, I have to do a panel (Sometimes more) with this damn obnoxious ultra-otaku. Big fat guy, always wearing a yellow backpack, nappy unwashed hair, and thinks he knows every fucking thing about anime, sci-fi, gaming, etc... And he'll sit there and talk about his ideas like they're the law, and people will just leave the room. I'm not kidding.
So yeah... there's my advice...
