go to tools/internet options.../advanced tab and uncheck "play videos in web pages"

if that doesn't work, when you arrive on the download page, close media player when it pops up. The web page should say "the download should have automatically started by now. If it did not, click here. " right click the link and click "save target as..."

I can download videos...but the thing is it takes a really long time. I have DSL...and it takes like an hour to 2 hours to download a video. I was just wondering if it was the site or if it was my dsl...and if its my dsl does anyone happen to know how I could possibly fix it? ~Christina

Actually, that was the first thing I did when I first started seeing the problem, but it didn't accomplish anything other than to make the Microsoft error page take longer to load, probably due to a longer attempt at trying to connect to the media player docked within the media sidebar menu thingie.

As for the second piece, I have closed the media player and the link does appear...but there is only a small chance that it is the actual link to the video itself and not another .htm file. It's...rather odd.

Thank you for your advice, though, it was nice to get such quick assistance with my problem. :o

Jinjue, did you download Service Pack 2? If you did, then you need to do this too.

Problems Downloading

Post by Romyra » Tue Sep 21, 2004 10:56 pm

I'm having the same problem that jinjue has. I downloaded vids normally up until a few hrs ago and then I started seeing them attempt to d/l via the media sidebar window. It's driving me nuts and when I attempt to "save target as" I haven't gotten through as yet. I am quite disheartened at the moment. I was having such a ball downloading.

Is there a limit to how many one can d/l in a day? I got 5 today before this problem started and now I can't get any. I haven't downloaded SP2 so I don't know if that is contributing to my problem, and I keep getting this msg:
Windows Media Player Error Message Help
