Hello everyone. I want to burn amvs to a dvd, and i know there are other threads about this, but i was looking for specific tools...mainly free ones. (the reason, besides me being cheap, is that i really dont have any place to buy the tools, and i dont want to pay for something i wont be able to use)
correct me if im wrong, but after all my research, i think i genereally know what to do....
convert .avi to dvd format which i think is like mpeg 2
and im not sure about audio... but i think after that i need to author the dvd or something like that??? which is where i get lost.
So my question is....... is it possible to burn a dvd (playable on a dvd player) with using free tools. and what are all the tools i need...
i think ill just need a good, free converter, if there is one... and a free dvd authoring program??
o well... thanx for the help

It is not neccesary to convert an .avi file to mpeg before putting it into a DVD authoring program. Most dvd programs will accept .avi, especially if the program was designed for use with DV camcorders. The programs will convert the .avi to mpeg 2 for use on DVD.
Audio? Uhm, most DVD prgrams output LPCM audio. Some programs will support Dolby Digital AC-3 audio.
I don't know of any freeware DVD programs. I can recommend using DVD Movie Factory or DVD Workshop. There are trials that are good for 30 days and they will burn functional DVD discs. You can get them from Ulead.
