What exactly is a gat? More stupid slang that means a gun? is it shortened from Gatling gun?

Also, miniguns (the smallest of gatling type guns) are heavy enough that to carry one (plus the thousands of rounds of ammo you need) for extended periods of time you need to be a weight lifter. Then there's the issue of recoil.....no human can fire one hand carried and not be pushed into next week. Those things have some mean recoil. That's why they're always mounted on a stand or on a vehicle.
I want to see real rotary barrelled guns, not little pistols that people think that by calling them a bigger gun they'll suddenly get better. Almost as bad as the time I saw a geo Metro with a BMW logo on the hood.
