Gatsu the guy from Beserk?

Is Gatsu the same guy from record of Lodoss war or am I thinking of something else strange? and if so how did he get his own anime?

No, Gatsu from Berserk is not in Record of Lodoss War. I'm not even sure who you're thinking of from Lodoss War.

There's a berserker in Lodoss, and he does bear a certian physical similarity, but I'm pretty sure his name was Samson, possibly with a 'p' involved.
