Kare Kano Vid Makers...

I was getting started on my latest project, a Kare Kano vid, and I had a question for anyoen else whose used the series.

I started ripping the .Vob's and noticed something.

Is it just me or is the quality of video for the US discs pretty grainy?

Indeed. You can try using smoothing filters and such to help, or be like Janzki and fix the nastier spots by hand.

It can look decent enough with proper filtering and good compression though.

The Japanese disks apparently looked like shit as well. Gainax is developing a history of not knowing how to actually animate

Well, at least I know now it wasn't just me.

Then again, the grainy footage may actually work for me, conidering that the song is from the 70's. Might give it a retro feel. Dunno, will have to see how the final product comes out.
