not sure if a video uses downloaded footage
im reviewing a video i finished downloading today, however thier something that gets to me with it. i have a strange suspicion that it uses downloaded footage, however im not entirely sure of it and dont want to give it a lower score based on something that the creator might have used. also, i dont want to post the link to this vid (it is on the org though) as i dont want to openly acuse someone when im not sure they did it. so a bit of a complex situation im in. can anyone give me some advice ? im a bit confused at the moment.
(oh and, i havent finished reviewing the video yet. not going to while im confused about this)

I don't have any problem when a video uses dlded footage if the quality is great. Wouldn't lower it's capture score even if I knew. But, beats me.

Well, if the reason you suspect they're using downloaded footage is because the quality is low, then you should grade the capture accordingly. Downloaded footage, bad compression, whatever the reason is, low quality is low quality. If it's a logo, bits of subtitles, etc..., then I'd adjust the capture score based on how distracting whatever it is happens to be. If you've got reason to suspect that, it's based on some perceptible flaw, so just judge the flaw itself without respect to its specific origin.

If you know the series, see if the quality issues are consistently from one particular disk or not. It could be differences in the original source. For example, I know that the first Mahoromatic DVD had a lot more black space on the right and left sides than the other two. I didn't catch this in one of my own vids until after making it available for download.bum wrote:well, its not that the quality is low (theirs also a high quality version for download, both downloads are direct links) , its that thier are certian issues in the quality, like black bars along the side for certian scenes, and other things. its a bit hard to explain.

well, similar except they only appear all the way down the right hand side two or three times in the videoaznfs wrote:black bars on the side? like no cropping? such as in one of my lazy vids?
