Are they any recomended/good serious AMVs done to Umi ga Kikoeru (I can hear the sea/ocean) ?
I found 5 hits on the super search, and all of them were various.
I havn;t yet watched this anime, but based on reviews it seems like good material for a good romance. I'm curious if I can see a good AMV to it to see if it perks my interest more into buying the OVA/movie.

I bought the R2 DVD a few months ago. It's not Miyazaki, but it was worth seeing. I'm not sure a romance video could be made from it. The movie is only 72 minutes, and very little is what most would call romantic. It's more on the level of "good friends"...and that only happens near the end.
BTW, the official English title is Ocean Waves.

I spot checked a few chapters of the DVD this evening. I don't speak Japanese, but the subs seem fine to me. No problems there. The transfer is excellent, but you may find the artwork a notch below a Miyazaki film. "Umi" was a made-for-TV movie, after all, and made by the younger staff members of Studio Ghibli. The director also did some of the KOR movies and there is a similar flavor in this movie. See the FAQ at the link above.
Even after flipping through the chapters, I still can't see enough to make a romantic AMV. Most of the facial scenes are in conversation meaning lots of lip flap. Almost no dreamy scenes at all. Maybe it just needs the right song. Or maybe I'm just lacking imagination.
BTW, that link also has a long and detailed play-by-play synopsis of the movie. It's more than a review and may have spoilers.
