I've been slow at progress, but I have a near complete beta uploading to ooshna's ftp. Its the only ftp I can connect to so I thought I might as well try there.

I think we need a full description of the frame rate, resolution, audio format, and any other technical stuff again (to be sure everyone is on the same page) so we can submit the final versions of our videos. We also need a working ftp that we can all decide on to use.

I would think using the a 720x480 huffy file would give great quality, however the file size is enormous! Mine would be at least 2 GB! So thats one reason I think we need a review of the technical stuff. I think we said we were using 24 fps and 512x??? res. My video is 23.976 fps, but I'll try to make it 24 fps (hopefully it my edits don't lose sync). Also, my video is widescreen and should I crop the outer edges off so the video is the full wide 512 with no black bars? Taking it off would increase quality, but the side bars are for the fact that a television doesn't display the full edges. I'm only asking this since it sure seems like we are making a DVD; so watching a widescreen video or any video on a TV will have the edges cut off. I'm just curious about some details.
Insert clever text/image here.

Video Res: 512X288 for 16:9, 512x360 for 4:9
Framerate: 24 fps (although he said 23.39 is ok too)
Audio Format: I beleive we suggested uncompressed wav to save recompression.
Codec: Hufyuv, or full quality first pass Xvid. (He also said any of the popular codecs are fine, like Mjpeg and indeo, though I suggest doing the final submission in Hufyuv, or Mjpeg(full quality) only. Xvid as a last resort.

I'd say hold of on the final *Big* version to give Emily for until he comes back with the full FTP, since HE is the one going to be doing the final composition of the project together.

As for the DVD

I will need full size 720X480 renders of the project for full quality on the DVD to compile it. These could be encoded to mpeg2 as if you were submitting to a con. I will arange between me and Rose4Emily on how to work out the monologue sections and all that into the DVD version. Also when you encode these, make sure to set the aspect ratio properly for your video.

If you can only do Hufyuv, as these would be huge, I'm thinking maybe spanning it in a zip file, burning to CDs and mailing them to me, as it would take an eternity to upload a 2.? GIG file to any ftp.

thoughts?

Some bad news.

While I was converting some vob files into Huffys last night, VDubMod had a major issue. It even corrupted the filesystem on one of my drives. Unfortunately, most of the files in the FTP fell victim. The only things I was able to recover via forensics were Pen-Pen's Reqiuem for a Nightmare and the VHS cover scan.

At this point I should note that most of what was there seemed to be out of date, with the exceptions of Bakka's and Pen-Pen's vids.

In other words, people are going to have to upload updated versions (considering most of the betas were outdated, no big loss).

Raver, you can drop it in mine, although as I'm posting this Rose's is running.

Ooshna- I uploaded the final version of Warrior's Dance to your FTP last night, but it's not in the inbox or the outbox. Did you get it or should I upload again?
