i need FMV/Anime footage
Okay i'm new to this site, but not to making Anime Music videos, well thats a lie i've only made two. but my problem is i can never find footage,
my first AMV was 'Zone of the Enders' to Linkin Park: Pts.Of.Athrty. but to make that i had to record it straight from the t.v, my second i had to search for about 3 weeks gathering the FMVs from FinalFantasy7,
anyway my point is, do u ppl know anyway for me to find these un-compressed clips in .Mpg .Avi or .Mov format? because if there is some trick to it that u can show me, or if u people could show me where to get them from i would be so greatful.
thanks in advance

You can get the FMVs from Final Fantasy VII by acquiring the Playstation game cds and ripping them using some sort of utility such as PsxMC or PSMplay. I don't recommend using downloaded footage, as mentioned in the Org forum rules.

Which is by the way the very first result returned on this Google search.
Even if I could understand what you're trying to say, you'd still probably be wrong. It's perfectly legal to make an AMV out of whatever you want...distributing it to other people is where it gets legally sticky.Megarock-x wrote:and whats wrong with downloading it, it's all stolen anyway, ppl can take copyright thus no violation

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

It is generally encouraged to use source that has been legitimately purchased for two primary reasons.Megarock-x wrote:...[A]nd whats wrong with downloading it, it's all stolen anyway, ppl can take copyright thus no violation
1. Source taken from a DVD (or a good fresh VHS since you seem to have a capture card on hand) is of higher quality than source you download off of filesharing sources. Sources you download have been compressed and will only be compressed and format-altered further by the editing process. So if you start with something that is already heavily compressed for internet distribution, you will then be throwing out even more video quality when you compress it again for final video distribution. The same applies to audio. Compressed audio files such as MP3 give you less aural quality in the final product since you will be re-compressing something that has already been compressed at least once before.
2. Is a matter of support. Buying the DVDs and CDs (or VHS and cassettes if you prefer, there are ways to use those too after all) is a way to support the people who create these products and giving something back to them. Companies who work to bring anime to an American audience, music artists who need people to buy their albums so they can keep their contract and make a living (ESPECIALLY the independant or small-time artists). Shelling out for the physical product rather than just downloading it is a way to support the people who try to make a living by providing entertainment.
