I Just Finished Watching Chrno Crusade...

Post by Wheee_It's_Me! » Sun Jun 20, 2004 3:33 am

...damn...I mean I used to think the ending to Neon Genesis Evangelion was kind of on the depressing side...until I saw the ending to this series. I don't think I've ever actually read any book, watched any movie, or seen any television show with such a gut wrenchingly emotionally twisted ending. I mean, DAMN...

...like the one scene where Rosette is crying to Chrno about how she doesn't want to die...and the look on Azamaria's face when she finds the two dead in each others arms... o_O
And the icing on the cake is the fact that they weren't really trying to "shock" the audience with it either, it just happens so naturally that it's just...*shakes head*...this is definetly not an anime series that most people should watch...

I'm still reeling in shock from the ending. I mean, the anime was good, the characters were great, the plot was fantastic, everything was just incredible but...damn.

I mean imagine your best friend in the whole world, someone you spend time with together, someone who makes you laugh, someone you share your thoughts and secrets with, someone that you just couldn't imagine life without...now imagine that they're dead.

...that's basically what Chrno Crusade is like. I suppose "remembering the good times" made it a really enjoyable series, but on the other hand I wonder if it would have just been nicer if I had never watched it in the first place.

I realize it's just a cartoon, fictional characters and all, not real or anything...but in a sense, in your imagination it is real...I'd say it's a really good series...but I think people should know what they're getting into before they watch it, I kinda wish I had known, it would have made the "loss" easier I guess.

And even further, there's no happy upside at the end. I mean it's not like watching the movie Braveheart where, okay he dies tragically, but his rebellion still won it's freedom and he wound up gettin the queen pregnant with his kid, upside to the downside and all like that. No, it was just downside, downside.

Glad you liked it. Of course I heard that the people who read the Chrono Crusade manga were pissed off at the way Gonzo handled with the ending and the entire series.

I thought the farm house was a pretty decent way of ending it. Still not sure what the deal with the last scene was though.
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.
