need clips to fit poem

Post by pen-pen2002 » Sat Jun 19, 2004 3:56 pm

I have an idea for a very short AMV but I am having trouble with the clips. It is mostly instrumental about one minute long and would be to a sung version of a poem:

"Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek the pale enchanted gold…"

There are more verses but this is the only one I have. If anyone has a more complete version please PM me.

The music is dark and somber featuring bass cellos, harp, and some light flutes.

It's from Tolkien.

More here.

As for anime, Record of Lodoss war comes to mind. This was before I recognized the poem as Tolkien, too.

I knew it was Tolkin, I happen to be a die hard Tolkin fan which is why I happen to have a song from a very old animated version of The Hobbit. (several actually, I also have "Fifteen Birds" and "Goblin Town" :D)

I have seen very little of "Record of the Lodus War." I will have to check it out.

You have the old animated Hobbit? Awesome. (I had a VHS version, but the poor old tape died).

I can think of a single episode of "Princess Tutu" that fits every line of that song other than the "Misty Mountain" one perfectly. It fell somewhere in the latter half of the former half of that series and included a dungeonish setting, people walking about town at night and around a large fire, and a magical being made entirely of pale, yellow, light. No mountains in the series, but there are plenty of misty forests and the misty walled town (which, as it turns out, was a near exact replica of an actual place in Germany called Kinkan town). No dwarves or hobbitses, but some good scenery.
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.

Naruto. I think the Zabuza/Haku episodes would fit very well with that poem.

"Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old"

It's perfect... since most of the time it has to do with the mist.

Perhaps Naruto would work, but it doesn't suit the hgih fantasy mood. Unfortunately, high fantasy anime is in short supply.

Maybe .hack will have some scenery that fit the words? It'd be an interesting, high-tech take on the whole fantasy thing.

I love how everybody who's replied here so far is related to the Instrumentality project. :P

I know this is a late offer to the table but what about The Violinist of Hameln? or is it a bit abstract for the idea?
...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.
I've seen it happen, man! I've SEEN IT!..
