Tapes, even the official VHS ones, are weak. Actual DVD is the way to go, especially since the Kenshin dub was done so poorly . . .
Very well put. If you like a show on tv and you would like to own it, tis better to have it on dvd rather than tape. Better quality, you get to see the uncut version, and maybe some quality extras. Not to mention not all stuff on tv is good. Over half of my favorite animes haven't aired on tv (or at least to my knowledge, perhaps on anime network but I can't get that  ).

No I' haven't seen any of them. My cousin, though, used to talk about Berserk alot. I'm asuming it's a good show?

I like the Trigun series and Kenshin's ok (I'm not sure if I'd spend time watching the Kenshin episodes again...?)

(erghh...I hate when I post the same message twice! :x )

I read the Shaman King manga in Shonen Jump; it's ok, too.

........or how about saving the site's bandwhich and not....

I've only seen Beserk in your list.
I've seen DBZ, Trigun and Kenshin in the origianal poster's list. I have not seen Shaman King, nor do I intend to..... ever...

As for the shows themselves......
Beserk is the king of the crop in my opinion. (88%)
Trigun is next only due to the fact that it had one too many filler episodes. (86%)
Kenshin had WAY too many fillers, the first 26 episodes were rather slow, and the show became rather flat after the Shishio arc. (79%)
DBZ is probably one of the worst animes I have seen (although I used to love it.) DBZ is the GOD of fillers. It has so much useless crap that a good 50 hours could be detracted from the show without hurting the plot much. (50%)

I seriously doubt that one new thread is going to impact the site's bandwidth by THAT much . . .

So yes, please make a new topic on this kind of thing instead of starting a new topic within another post. It's much easier to find it and converse on that kind of thing. Anyway . . .

I've seen berserk, and I might have seen Flame of Recca at a con awhile back, but I can't remember. Berserk however is an excellent series . . . it just ends poorly.

Have not seen Berserk or Flame of Recca, but I have seen part of Scryed (I haven't seen the whole thing because I've been preoccupied with better animes). It's an okay anime. I would have enjoyed it more if some of the minor character Alter Users (see spoiler for definition of Alter User) weren't so annoying.
spoiler wrote:The anime takes place (sometime in the near future) on the Lost Ground. The Lost Ground is a district of Japan that was elevated up into the sky by some unknown phenomenon. After the upheaval of the Lost Ground, a small percentage of the childeren born on the Lost Ground developed the strange ability to break down matter then rearrange it into another shape. This ability was called Alter, so naturally, those with this power were called Alter Users. The actual time setting of Scryed takes place a little more than 20 years after the upheaval. For the most part it follows a particular Alter User named Kazuma.
Now for more background. The Lost Ground was eventually split up into two parts: The city and the wasteland. The alter users that live in the city either don't reveal their power or they belong to an organization called Holy. Holy is a branch of a justice system (so to speak) known as Hold. Before Holy was formed Hold had a hard time keeping the trouble making Alter Users under control. So they fought fire with fire and formed Holy to take care of that problem.
The wasteland is very different from the city. The city is peaceful but the wasteland is very much the opposite. It's pretty much a dog eat dog world out in the wasteland and Alter Users (aka Native Alters) often use their powers for their own self-interest. Kazuma probably would have been one of those Alters if he didn't have a little orphened girl (Kanami) to take care of. To make ends meet, he works for a guy named Kimishima who gives him odd jobs that needs an Alter User's touch.
When Holy suddenly starts coming into the Wasteland and arresting those with Alter powers. Kazuma makes a stand against them. Mostly against one member in particular, Ryohou.
