I can read Kanji!
Wait no I can't.

But, this does sound like a good idea. I also like the idea of complex guides (I have to keep myself entertained somehow!). I think these Guides should get harder then we can make a new area of the Fourms for General creativity help (leave all the LPZ, fansubus uing, downloaded mp3-ers in the digital gaussian blur. No offence to LZ| fansub using, downloaded mp3-ers that I respect {total count of 0}).

Wait a second Did I make sence in that last paragraph?

that is very true Star. you know you have mastered something if you can teach it to another. if not, then your knowlage of it is incomplete and you dont know it nearly as well as you think. you be partially instinctual in how you do manage to accomplish what you do.

oh, and the web-based chat links... not helpful. carefully following the instrictions the CGI link didnt come up, or insted forwarded me to a differant channel Other then "#AMV". and while i do have a java client installed the java chat link braught up nothing at all.
and then there are the MIRC channels... damned if i can tell wich one(s) (if any) would have members with simular interests. IE: amv editing.
thusly, i find myself very disipointed. :(

Look. Download and install mIRC. Open it. type "/server irc.zirc.org", followed by "/nick <whatever>" and "/join #AMV".

It really might not be best implemented by the Org, but rather in small groups created on their own (like the creator of the other topic mentioned).

I'm at the point where I've scourged over the guides, done hard-core crunching on my brain learning the programs, process, things to consider, and planning and finishing three vids. No tutoring could have replaced that experience of learning on my own determination, and I received help when I got specific technical problems at these forums. But right now I feel like I need more than that. With my writing, my art.. I'm the kind of person that thrives best when I can bounce ideas off of other people I've gotten to know for a project and get encouraging and helpful feedback before I finish that project.

I find myself talking about my project details and what I'm working on and what parts I'm talking to to my dad and some friends, but I know at least half of it goes right over their heads. ^_^;;

For those of you who prefer working and learning on your own, that's great. But for those who feel the need for more, I think it would be a good idea for those of us to form small "support" groups. Just a group of 5 or so with amv-creators of all different experience (a hard-working beginner or two, some at a more intermediate or advanced level). In my experience with writing and art, learning how to help others often helps you to improve yourself.

I'm more than for something like that if any others are interested. :)

I agree that would be a cool group to join...
By-the-way I saw your My-girl video, good stuff.

there appear enough people to start such a group. there is a problem of details of the notion however.
which is why i still wish this place would add an appropiate forum/BB so interested people could come & go as they pleased.

altho.... i gota admit that the notion [/i]is doable if we use the "Opinion Exchange" area for this. itld be nice to change/mutate that BB from newbies asking for criques to something a little more useful IMO.

I don't get it. This has been suggested numerous times in the short time that I've been reading these forums. Lots of people SAY that they are willing to be available, and yes there are some very real pros and cons to the whole process as well.

You know, there are lots of editors that are perfectly willing to help you. Just don't expect them to come beating down the doors. I have had some pretty good luck with PM-ing some editors, and through the AIM method later if they seemed so inclined. On the other hand I've also helped several people through the AVS process (it really isn't that hard) the same way.

So when you read back in the software help forum, and see your exact problem, odds are that you will also see a response on how it was solved. You could follow that response, PM the person that posted originally to see what they did, or even PM the people that helped.

yes, sadly a lot of people have problems following through no matter the good intent ment at that time.
i fully expect editors to come & go and i am not nearly fooish enough to expect them to come in droves, but hopefully enough to provide help for those can could make good use of it.

a further rebuttle: also, not many people are bold enough to PM someone they do not know to ask for help. I certianally am not. so while that may have worked for you bunny, it wont for me and nor for many many others. :(
