Okay, I ripped several things of lain. They work. Wait a second! Its not all deinterlaced! And when I was converting it in DVD2AVI, it said it was 29.97 rather than 29.976! Is there somethin screwy? I tryed reriping and only converting singel Vobs per D2A file. But it always apears in the say area. Luckly it hasn't been interlaced on the clips I wanted.
So yeah, help.
Please.

Need some more info
What version of DVD2AVI are you using?
Are you creating AVS scripts with the D2V files?
What program are you using to view said files? (Premiere, Virtual Dub, Etc.)
Interlaced footage is common. If you have created AVS scripts you can deinterlace your footage by adding a line like this> SmoothDeinterlace(tff=true,doublerate=false,lacethresh=5,edgethresh=20,staticthresh=0)
Add it near the top of your script under any kind of "IVTC".
"29.97 or 29.976" really not a big difference there.

OK, 29.97 FPS is how the video is stored.
So it is better to inverse telecine the footage and create a progessive video stream. Than to attempt to deinterlace (which can be error proned) if you are trying to remove the interlaced frames. This will also help by lowering the frame rate (losing 1 frame for every 5) allowing the remaining frames more bits or an overall smaller file size in the end.
I am sorry if my prior post was misleading.
It takes time for all this stuff to sink into my thick skull.
I hope this post is more helpful or at least accurate

I can not think past the point of what day it is (I figured out it was Friday cuz norten poped up for its weekly anoyance). One thing I did see was that I hade assumefps(24). I haven't been bothered enought to see if thats the problem. My eyes...
Thanks for the help. I'll read it better when I know what my name is. Till then, Mindless Politicaly Aware Zombie State....... :Zombie:

Re: Is this the right place for video help? I'm posting it h
No. 29.97 is the standard NTSC framerate; 29.976 is almost never seen as far as I know. I think you're thinking of 23.976.Nekoboy Sal wrote:Okay, I ripped several things of lain. They work. Also, DVD footage is supposed to be interlaced. If you don't want to edit interlaced, then IVTC it in AVISynth.
Then you should probably R<a href="/guides/avtech/">EADFAG</a>. Seriously, it helps.Nekoboy Sal wrote:I have no idea what you just said.
Interesting combination. Hopefully you weren't doing them both simultaneously.Nekoboy Sal wrote:I'v been working the past 3 days on making an AMV and roofing my house.
Can you post your entire script?Nekoboy Sal wrote:One thing I did see was that I hade assumefps(24). I haven't been bothered enought to see if thats the problem. My eyes...

I'v Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides</a>. I just can't consentrait right now. I can't do simple math at th moment. Seriously! I'v been up late and early. I can't even remeber what else you said... Hey look. A topic Review at the bottom of this page.
Geez. Wow. I missed that one. 23.976? I'v been using PAL a little too long.
Next item. Yeah I Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides</a>. Thats how I started.
Roofing, well I did make a bunch of high quality (supost to be high, took just as long for Jak quality) when I was on the roof.
The script? Shure. But then I'm off to bed. 1:11 Irish time.
MPEG2Source("F:\File convertions\off disk0.d2v")
telecide()
Decimate(5)
assumefps(24)
Dang I just remembered. I'm downloading a video. I'll have to stay up for... Sweet anouther 10 minets! Yatta!

This may not directly apply to your question. But, I have found it a good idea to be careful with the Line> assumefps(24). This can make a big mess if your footage is encoded at 29.97fps. Best to use the Line> changefps(24) in some cases. However if your footage is running at 23.97fps then "assumefps" will work fine.
I hope the roofing project is going well (or went well)((whichever applies)):!:

The line decimate(5) removes every fifth frame which are duplicate frames from the IVTC process. After they are removed the frame rate is 13.976fps. Premeire however doesn't have a 23.976 timebase to edit in so you have to use assumefps(24)Jason 00 wrote:This may not directly apply to your question. Never use changefps() unless you really know what you are doing. Even then there are better alternatives to using such a command.
