Ataris have been lost u.u [interesting CD losing stories]

Post by Apeotheosis » Wed Jun 02, 2004 2:54 pm

I just wanted to let everyone here know that I have lost my Ataris CD...yes - it's a very sad day.

Anyways, does anyone have any interesting stories about losing CDs? I have no idea why I'm posting this...so don't ask. But c'mon, let's hear it. We need some more comedy to add some flavor to the music section.

If this get's locked, I am sincerely sorry for posting it. But sometimes the ADD just takes control. :)

This happens to me with annoying frequency, but it's more often because:

1) I have a bloody huge CD collection
2) It lives in two separate states, divided by about 800 miles
3) I am kind of a dumb guy

For the longest time I thought I had lost my copy of Suffocation's Effigy Of The Forgotten, but it turned out it was just at the bottom of a pile that I hadn't gone through in like eight months. When I was DJing at the radio station, I used to leave CDs lying on top of the player rack or EBS system cabinet, or next to the record players in the staff room, or just around the prod booth, and not notice until I came in and found them the next week (listening to obscure and acquired-taste stuff helps people not steal your gear).

I'm currently listening through a stack of CDs that have been sitting on the bottom layer of a bottom shelf in the wrong state for about 18 months. Some of them I forgot I even had -- others I just forgot when exactly they dropped out of the regular rotation.

I also ran into an similar but not-explicitly-related problem during the annual post-spring-semester new-stuff ripswap with my brother; I had to go digging through my music collection to find out whether or not I already had a CD that he'd picked up in that time. I knew I used to own it, but wasn't sure if I'd given him my copy and needed to rip it or whether he'd gone out and gotten it on his own.

Don't let chance and human stupidity mess up your music collection -- get a huge hard drive and a copy of CDEx.

I lost about 100 CDs when my family moved while I was in college. Since I went to school out-of-state and was still at school when they actually moved, my mom decided that I must not listen to the CDs that I left at home anymore and just threw them out (that wasn't the only thing she threw out of mine though :x ). I had quite a rude shock when I came home at the end of the semester.

Wow...I couldn't deal with my music being in two different states. That would suck major. But having a REALLY REALLY bad short term memory - I'm most likely worse off then you are. Seriously, I'm terrible. My parents and some of my friends get so tired of it sometimes. But oh well, it's part of me.

I plan on going to school out of state in about a year, but I'm already moving out in the next couple of weeks so I don't have to worry about them throwing out any of my ish. ^_^

I don't lose cds, my brother borrows them and leaves for extended periods of time >.< Let's see, once he borrowed my Throwing Copper cd and went to university for four months and forgot to bring it back >.< But I have a tendency to mooch stuff off him too, so we're even.

Generally though, I tend to get a certain song stuck in my head, and not having the cd will drive me up the wall.

Though I have a crazy amount of cds, so generally I just try to get something different stuck in my head.

I have CDs floating all over my room, I need to get a massive CD binder (over 300 CDs to be hoeld in it). I have no idea how many I have...

I thought I lost a CD once. Searched the ENTIRE house except the one spot where it was. I knew it wasn't there, because it's my comp desk, CDs are never laying around there. I sit down, look to my left in my stack of shit in front of my tower, AND THERE IT WAS. I felt like an ass...

My sister and mom, on the other hand, have lost many CDs.

Ooh ooh, one time I bought a CD while on travel and left it in the rental car when I returned it. I realized it about 2 hours into my flight back home.
