Anime discussion: Magical Girl crap
I just watched a fansup of 'Purikyua', aka 'Pretty Cure' and I have to ask (while i have teeth to articulate words, it was so sweet, i think that they may fall out) If the genre has any hope of dying out.
Please?

From what I've heard of "Pretty Cure" (assuming it's the show I'm thinking it is) it doesn't seem like a fanservice kind of thing...actually, I thought it seemed pretty dumb.
The magic girl thing is probably here to stay. It's too popular to die out. That's what attracts a lot of girls to anime in the first place (ex. Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura). It isn't so bad...if it's done right.

2 million and counting
Its popular enough to have its own name and art style, Shoujo.
Its not like anyone forces you to watch it.

Shoujo's a lot more than just magical girl tho, right?
Anyway, Nestorath69, if you actually want to try to enjoy some magical girl I recommend reading the Ultra Maniac manga. It's really quite good. Not all that sweet either.
Unfortunately it looks like it'll never get an official release over here
(Tho I don't like the anime - they changed the characters slightly and the plot diverges from the manga after about the fourth episode. It's really the same in name only :\. They even made the side character Nina the main character lol. From her freetalks is seems the author wasn't too happy with the series either.)
My current avatar is from it, you can probably tell.

Actually, i have no prefeered genre. I bounce around and find things funny, serious, whatever. But I watched this pretty cure crap, and my teeth fell out. typical implied nudity/rainbow colors transformation sequence, typical whimsical sidekick/pets, (the whole 'mippu/meppu' crap made me want to vomit) The whole thing was... typical. I'm not complaining per se about the genre, I'm complaining more that it's become bland and completely predictable... like hollywood.
