men who go through Hell

ok, ive come to the reluctant conclusion that my initial idea wont work. since i cant find the "perfect" anime to do a character profile, i can tweek the notion a bit to do a compilation.

Said Compilation would need to be somewhat brief scenes showing the hell and literal (psyical is easiest to show but other specific ideas are more then welcome) suffering a man will go through for the woman he loves.

i know this is asking a lot, but i would greatly appreaciate ideas of specific anime's and if possable the exact episodes you all can think of for this.

I can think of a few characters that might fit :
Shuji, from Saishu Heiki Kanojo. He goes through a lot of emotional pain for Chise, and even gets electrocuted (not fatally) trying to help her.
Also, one of Shuji's classmates goes off to war and dies for the girl he loves.
Yota, from Video Girl Ai. What he does to get to her in the last episode says it all.
Mousse, from Ranma 1/2. Tries to win Shampoo's affections by proving himself in battle, and doesn't care about getting wounded. There's a really good example of this in the second Ranma 1/2 movie.
From what I've seen of Le Portrait de Petite Cossette, Eiri takes on a great burden in order to try and save Cossette. This one's a bit violent.

Those are all I can think of right now, hope it's some help.

Kamui Shirou from "X" has a world of pain visited on him when he tries to save Kotori, Fumas sister and the girl he loves most. Uhm... who else?

Vash from "Trigun" goes through alot of pain and suffering trying to live up to the backwards morals that Rem instilled in him...

Arisugawa Sorata, also from "X", dies for Kishu Arashi. Very emotional.

Uhm.. Oburi from "Kite" gets the shit kicked out of him by Akai when he's trying to protect Sawa...

Shuji from "Saikano" or "Saishuuheiki Kanojo" goes through complete and utter torment for Chise, and for her friend who was secretly in love with him.

Sasshi from "Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai" goes through a fair bit of pain for Arumi, but im not sure if thats viable given that the series is largely comedy... granted theres some seriousness strewn through it...

Shinji from "Evangelion" goes through some pain for a girl that will never acknowledge him, Asuka.

It basically comes down to "how picky do you want to be?". But i hope i helped some.

You could try Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho when he's fighting Toguro in the Dark Tournament. There's actually a really good scene where Yusuke is thinking about himself and Keiko and Toguro appears and is basically taking away his happiness to resume putting him through hell again

Almost any romatic comedy would work. Love Hina, Ranma 1/2, Fusugi Yugi, Masion Ikkoku, etc. all have men suffering for the women they love.

the more i thnk about it, the more i come to the conclusion that a compliation of anime's just wouldnt work. the song being mostly an instrimental i just dont think i could pull that off well. So i think im going to have to stick with my inital idea and find a single anime to use for a character profile.
this is turning out to be more difficult then i thought to finda suitable anime.
