Another thing to consider, it usually doesn't matter what people in the rest of the world want if a show wasn't popular in Japan (i.e. Hellsing).

Fruits Basket only had a lukewarm reception over there, IIRC, so I don't think we'll see a second season.

I signed an Inuyasha petition to get new episodes put back on Cartoon Network, and thousands of others responded as weel, and now we have new episodes. I don't know whether it had any impact on whether or not the show was put back on, but they said based on the overwhelming number of Inuyasha fans that keep growing, they've put it back on.

I doubt the petition itself had much to do with that. I also doubt that they would have seriously canceled Inu Yasha in the first place.

As for a second season of Fruits Basket... regardless of whether they make one or not, the story continues in the manga, which is currently being released here. Go buy that. The third volume will be out in June, and from what I hear, it's still being released in Japan.
