ADV Films announced at their panel that they now hold the rights to Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Peace Maker Kurogane, and the original Gatchaman. Details of the panel will be posted on ANN later.
It's about freakin time that ADV gets Fumoffu. :?

Kurogane's a solid show, too. I do hope they slip a little note in there somewhere to explain why half a dozen characters share names with Kenshin characters to prevent people getting confused.

It's because both are set in a historical context and use names of actual Shinsengumi members from the time (although whilst PMK has them in their historical roles, Kenshin mixes that and just stealing the names).

Hey wait a minute. Didn't Rhino Entertainment already own the rights to Gatchaman and released it on bilingual DVDs titled Battle of the Planets?
Probably too busy to be here right now.

Hope for the live-action Eva movie?

Anyhows, I hope ADV releases Fumoffu more quickly than it released a few other titles. *cough* Puni Puni Poemy *cough*

How does Kenshin steal their names? The ovas seemed to go right along with how PMK did. The meeting with the Choushuu near the end of PMK is what happens in OVA episode 2. Okita and Saitou are shown as captains, just like in PMK. Okita is shown having the same condition in Kenshin as in PMK.

They seemed to have the same positions to me. To me, kenshin shows the side of the nationalist, except on Katsura's side cause that's what happens in PMK. Katsura didnt go to that meeting. PMK shows it from the shinsengumi's side but only up until that meeting, while alot of fictional story telling of Tetsu.

And I'm guessing some of the half dozen names are: Katsura, Okita, Saitou, Maeda, Miyabe, Yoshida (I do believe he was mentioned in the Kenshin OVAs, I'd have to check again). I'm not sure if the three other captains in PMK that were goofy were actual names. I've never done research on that time period.

I'm only saying all this cause I don't think Kenshin did anything wrong, it's a good solid show as well. PMK was good, and I hope they don't try to continue it if it becomes popular.
Although I was lookin for the fight between Tetsu and Suzu, I'd rather them not do that.

I was using the term 'half a dozen' in the colloquial sense of 'some' rather than a specific amount... sorry for the confusion.

And yes, Kenshin largely is accurate but Sanosuke is taken from the captain of the 10th squad, and Soujirou's name is based on that of Akito Soshi/Souji (even though the real Soshi also appears in Kenshin).
