Some Kind of Monster / Get Thrashed

Post by rubyeye » Sat May 15, 2004 11:49 pm

Those of you, like me, interested or studying film/video might want to keep an eye out on two "Metal" documentaries I came across:

Some Kind of Monster
A stunning award-winning film on the trials and tribulations among the members of METALLICA. A very provocative and raw look at relationships in a band. Regardless of what you or I think of them now, check out the trailer and sample footage on the site - strictly in terms of editing and presentation, its very good, I think. Personally, I don't care about METALLICA anymore, and I will admit I liked them a lot "back then", but the film may be interesting to see.

Get Thrashed
A documentary about the evolution and impact of Thrash Metal. There's a number of clips that are fairly intersting which peeked my curiousity, maybe yours too. So it might be one to look out for. I am surprised and disheartened that MEGADETH is not a band they interviewed - to me they are one of the leading influences of the Thrash movement.

The Get Thrashed video seems pretty cool. Though I'd get rid of bands like Godsmack, Disturbed, and Stone Sour, and throw in other thrash greats like Dark Angel, Deceased, and Sodom (the greatest of them all, IMO). And why Kittie are on there is just beyond me.
T.O. rules me.
