Ai Yori Aoshi Review (spoilers)

Post by Wheee_It's_Me! » Thu May 06, 2004 10:39 pm

:(

Like, was anyone else just 8 shades of dissapointed after watching this series? I mean, it was *SO* good but they just left so many plot points unresolved. At the end it was just like, "Uh...uh...aren't they forgetting something..."

Like, since Aoi's father accepted Kaoru, does that mean they can be out in the open about their marriage or does it always have to be secret? And if it has to be a secret, well WTF kinda life is that? But then if it doesn't have to be a secret...um...well shouldn't they take the bother to, I dunno, announce it or something?

And what happend with the story arc with Mayu? The whole she's terribly lonely and sad and yadda yadda...but then it's like they just forgot about it and decided they wanted to develop Chika instead...the girl without a past who mysteriosly appeared pretty much out of nowhere that was like a complete rip off of Mayu (on prozac)...why did SHE move in with them at the end? I mean, it seems like Mayu would have been much better off living with them (especially after she was totally freaking out that first night with Kaoru). Apparently poor Mayu gets to continue eating all alone by herself, not a friend in the world (except for every now and again when she pops over for a visit).

*shakes head*

I dunno about anyone else whose seen this series, but it was just a horrible dissapointment to me. And what made it so horrible was the fact that it was going *SO* good. Oh well, maybe we can hope for a continuation of the series at some point.

I loved this show. It goes down as one of the best that I've seen. I didn't really get any of the disappointment that you did. Most animes that I've seen end with some moments they never wrap up, but i think this show did a good job with it. Mayu isn't as lonely anymore b/c she can see Karou whenever. Also i thought the ending was pretty good and actually satisfying.

Also there is a sequel.
See you space cowboy...
Miroku is a king among amine characters
Aliens, are you a peaceful race.
While hell yes, we are barbequing aren't we not.

I did a little more research and I'm confused, is this a movie, a continuation series, what? On one site I found it called it a movie, but another site listed it as a TV series and said there was only 4 eps, another site I went to said it had 12, and yet another site had two Enishi DVDs for sale, but the second one had no information.

Further, all the reviews don't seem to indicate that anything has been resolved or that there are any new major plot points of interest. I dunno, seems kinda bland, but maybe it's just the reviews are trying to hide spoilers? *shrugs*

Okay, I think I found a good source of info. It is a TV series, 12 eps plus an extra 15 min special. Also found this review to be kinda interesting:

"very good follow up to the first ai yori aoshi it gives a little more development on the relationship between kaoru and aoi and it gives more character development for everyone else as well it does sort of leave the series with no definitive ending but still a great series i enjoyed it as much as the first although i did almost have a heartattack the last three episodes"

No definitive ending...hrmmm, well maybe they'll do a movie or something.
