Well, one of the reviews for this week is finally up. The other that I promised will be up a little later today. I just need to go type it up. So anyways, here's the review I promised of Onegai Teacher!
Onegai (Please) Teacher! (Spoilers = light)
Kusanagi Kei is not your average high school student. He’s rather frail, and ever so often he goes into what he calls “standstills,” a comatose like state in which his body pretty much freezes, even to the point of causing him not to age. He now lives in a rural area with his uncle, who runs a clinic. But this simple life that Kei has been living takes a sudden change when his class receives a new teacher . . . one who just happens to be an alien!
I just find the concept of this show to be very amusing, especially what happens in the first few episodes to help Kazami Mizuho (his space-faring teacher) keep her secret, well, secret. All in all, the show is very charming, and at certain parts amazingly hilarious. The biggest thing that I believe helps with this is the personalities of the characters. They’re all very well done, and all are likeable (I especially like Kei’s uncle and his wife). Although for Kei’s fellow students, I found myself not liking their designs as much as I usually do (if you’ve read any of my past reviews, you know that I generally comment on how much I dig on the character designs). Now, this isn’t to say that they’re bad, in fact it’s quite the opposite. I just kinda felt like I had seen them before elsewhere, perhaps you can say it’s just a mild case of deja-vu, especially since I can’t remember where I might of actually seen any of them previously. And while I’m speaking of designs, the structure designs and environmental scenery are all nicely done, and do a good job of illustrating the small community that the characters live in (A relative of mine used to run a small town clinic, so I can kinda relate). And Mizuho, has one of the coolest looking spaceships that I can think of seeing. It just rocks.
Anyways, as I’ve already said, the designs are excellent, and they go with the animation perfectly. The animation itself is interesting, as I find it has a “smoothness” about it, I can’t really describe it, but that’s the way that I feel when watching it. But despite the cool animation, I really didn’t like the music all that much. To me, it just felt mediocre. Nothing about it stood out, for better or for worse. Too me it was just right in the middle.
So the end has come, and I definitely suggest checking out Onegai (Please) Teacher! It’s truly well done, and definitely worth taking a look at. I give Onegai Teacher 4 out of 5 stars.
And hopefully my review for Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu should be up in an hour or so. Enjoy!

Yeah, Onegai Teacher is fun... a little fanservicey, but fun, and with a good dose of psychology/philosophy thrown in (esp. episode 11).
Odd that you said that about the music... When I watched this series, the music didn't jump out at me either. But then, a few months later, I started collecting some of the vocal songs, like "Shooting Star", "Love a Riddle", and "Snow Angel", all by Kotoko of I've Sound... and now, a few months after that, the I've girls (especially Kotoko) are eating up my hard drive.
I don't have very many of the instrumental tracks though.

Hmmm . . . that's interesting that you had the same experience. Me thinks that perhaps I'll try and get some of the songs and give them more of a shot.Scintilla wrote: Odd that you said that about the music...
